Annie has recently been bred to Smoke. Puppies are due April 26, 2010.
The Zoey x Dillon litter is here, having been born in early November. There are ten healthy puppies - 4 solid liver males; 4 solid liver females; and 2 liver and white females. One solid liver female is still available (as of March 8, 2010), and she has been crate traiend and started on birds.

Wind River's Annie Oakley JH went Winners at the Danville IL Kennel Club show on August 29, 2009 for a three-point major! She now has six championship points. Also, the next day Sunshine Dream Princess At Wind River's JH went Best of Breed for a three-point major!
Sunshine Dream Princess At Wind River's JH was Best in Sweepstakes at the Kiswaukee KC , Fort Dearborn GSP Specialty show on July 12, 2009. She also won her class and took Reserve to the Major. She was handled by Lou DiBello.
Wind River's Annie Oakley JH took 3rd out of a large Open class at the Kishwaukee KC show on July 12, 2009. She went Winners at the Crab Orchard Kennel Club show on Aug. 2, 2008 for her 3rd point. She was owner handled at both shows.
Wind River's Whataboutgeorgia JH, "Miranda" is FOR SALE | DOB: 4-28-05 | OFA Good | DNA'd and micro chipped. She is scheduled to be spayed soon. She is a full sister to Wind River's Hot Spice JH.
The Tag & Kobe (from Honey Run Shorthairs) breeding was a success, with nine puppies born in the early morning of May 3, 2009. You can view the details of this litter by clicking here.
Where have I been the past two years?!?
The GSPCA has sent out ballots to all current members (as of 01/01/09) with the question, again, of changing the breed standard to allow the black coat color. Here at Wind River's Kennel we urge everyone to vote "YES" in favor of making the breed standard change. A history of the black coat color in today's German Shorthaired Pointer was published by the GSPCA in the October 2007 Shorthair Journal, and can be found in its entirety HERE.
Both Wind River's Annie Oakley and Sunshine Dream Princess at Wind River's earned their Junior Hunter titles with two more qualifying scores at the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Illinois hunt tests on April 4-5, 2009. Wynson's High Noon also completed his Junior Hunter title with a final qualifying score on Sunday, March 29, 2009, at the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Indiana hunt test.
Buck, a Tag & Isaac puppy, completed his Junior Hunter title on March 22, 2009 at the Des Plaines Fish & Wildlife Area.
Wind River's Annie Oakley went Best of Breed over Specials for her second point on 11-22-08. She was handled by Lou DiBello. Adam Delude handled Annie for her first point.
Sunshine Dream Princess at Wind River's went Best of Opposite Sex in Sweepstakes on 2-13-09 at the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Indiana Specialty. She also went Best Shorthair Puppy at the Hoosier Kennel Club, Inc. show on Feb. 14, 2009. She was only 6 mo. and 2 days old.
Issac finished his show championship Saturday, March 22, 2008.
May, 2008 - The proposed breed standard change to include black did not garner the requisite 2/3's of the vote.
Wind River's Trix R for Kids has earned her International Championship! Trixie is now owned by Karen Conrey of Sunshine GSP's.
Magic has earned the title of being the #1 Producing Hunt Test Dam of 2005 from the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Illinois.
Upcoming Hunt Tests - The Fall 2007 Season ended without much participation from our crew. Life happens and sometimes it's hard to fit everything into the schedule. Our dogs are anticipating the cooler weather with plenty of bird work at home this fall.
